The President signaled the start of the race by waving the green flag and later took a ceremonial lap around the temporary 1.7-mile street circuit in the presidential limousine, famously known as “The Beast.”
Preparing Washington’s streets for the event involved extensive efforts, including securing more than 200 manhole covers along the route.
