US Resumes Sharing Intelligence on Russian Missile Threats With Ukraine, Says Zelenskyy

by admin477351

The United States has resumed intelligence sharing with Ukraine regarding Russian missile attacks, a move that could significantly enhance Kyiv’s defensive capabilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the renewed cooperation following discussions with US envoy Steve Witkoff in Norway. This development is expected to provide Ukraine with advance warnings of ballistic missile strikes, potentially saving civilian lives amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Washington for the resumed intelligence support, emphasizing its critical role in ensuring the safety of children and adults across Ukraine. The move comes at a time when relations between Washington and Kyiv are strained over the future of US military aid and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict with Russia.

In his talks with Witkoff, Zelenskyy voiced concerns about restrictions on Ukraine’s military communications and the shortage of Patriot air defense interceptors. He suggested that Ukraine might consider pausing long-range attacks on Russian oil refineries if the United States provided more Patriot missiles to bolster its defenses.

As diplomatic efforts continue, Witkoff was scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to explore potential avenues for negotiation, though significant disagreements persist over the terms of any settlement. Zelenskyy has firmly rejected any proposals for negotiations over Ukraine’s future without its active participation, stressing that Kyiv must be involved in discussions about its territory and security.

Meanwhile, Russian attacks across Ukraine show no signs of abating. On Tuesday, at least nine people were killed, including three who died when a Russian drone hit vehicles on the Kyiv-Odesa highway. Such incidents underscore the urgency of enhanced intelligence sharing to help Ukraine better anticipate and respond to missile threats.

The resumption of intelligence collaboration marks a positive step in Ukraine’s defense efforts, yet uncertainties remain regarding the scale of future American military assistance and the broader prospects for a negotiated resolution to the conflict.
